How Sad
I grew up working in the family business, my brother also worked there for a time. I remember years ago chatting with one of our employees, a very devout Christian. Since I’m out of the closet with my atheism I can share it with you. Anyway we were talking and she said, “what about the rest of your family, what do they think of your atheism, or are they all atheists too.” I said it wasn’t a big deal around our house, I’ am related to a few believers, but remarked that my brother was a pantheist. She looked puzzled and I realized that she wasn’t familiar with the term pantheist. I did my best to clarify. Well an atheist is a person who believes there is no god, while a pantheist believes that god is present in everything. “Oh”, she said “how sad, well maybe someday you’ll be able to reconcile your different views.”
